EU packaging rules apply, with PFAS limits on food-contact packaging
11 Aug · European Commission

In practice: Where you send physical product to the EU, get written confirmation from your packaging suppliers that food-contact packaging meets the PPWR PFAS limits: 25 ppb for any individual PFAS and 250 ppb for the sum by targeted analysis, excluding polymeric PFAS, and 50 ppm for total PFAS including polymeric. The limits catch non-intentionally added and polymeric PFAS, so a supplier saying it adds no PFAS is not the same as compliance, and there is no sell-through transition: packaging first placed on the EU market from 12 August 2026 must comply regardless of when it was made, even though labelling, recycled content and recyclability duties only phase in from 2028 and 2030.

Cambodia trade guide

Asia Pacific Version 1.0 Updated 28 Aug 2026

Market synopsis

£83mUK exports to Cambodia, four quarters to Q1 2026
£35mUK goods exports within that total
0.1%UK share of Cambodia's goods imports, 2024

Entering Cambodia — UK Exporter Edition. A practical preview for UK exporters considering Cambodia — an open, manufacturing-led ASEAN market anchored by Sihanoukville's deep-sea port, the Mekong terminal at Phnom Penh Autonomous Port and the new Techo International Airport, where no UK–Cambodia preferential agreement applies to ordinary UK-origin goods, where the government's own trade portal still names a customs body that has since been succeeded by another, and where the Cambodia–Thailand land border remains closed under a live FCDO advisory — one of 101 markets in the Copernicus Trade Guide Library.

Cambodia's ASEAN manufacturing role and its three-gateway logistics network (Sihanoukville, the Mekong terminal and Techo air cargo) are real opportunities, but they sit alongside conditions that are easy to miss: no bilateral UK–Cambodia preference applies to ordinary UK-origin goods, the headline tariff figure quoted in commentary is not the number a broker can cost against, and a live border closure and financing caveats both require same-day, transaction-specific reconfirmation rather than a one-off desk check. The full guide converts every requirement into a checkable landed-cost and shipment workflow, with material claims traced to competent authorities and the 72-source Evidence Base.

Three checks before you quote

1
Cambodia–Thailand land crossings remain closed, not just risky
2
The average tariff quoted in commentary is not the number your broker should cost against
3
Don't assume a fixed credit-security threshold without checking it first
